| Service Types | Your company may offer various services in order to meet the customers needs, after speaking to a customer and understanding his/her needs. You can recommend a service that can meet those needs:
Companies usually offer the following: 1) Door to Door: This is full service from his door at origin to his door at destination 2) Door to Port / terminal: This is a full door pick up at origin and the service will end at the destination port/ terminal. This means that the terminal does not need to be a port, it can very well be very deep inside the country right near his home. 3) Port to Port: This means the customer will drop his/her goods at a nearby terminal and pick up the goods at the destination at a nearby terminal 4) Port to Door: This means customer will drop of his/her goods at company’s nearby terminal and they will taken all the way to his/her door at destination. 5) Ro-Ro: This means roll on/roll off, this service is for cars, company parks the car in the belly of the boat, much like a huge parking lot, when the vessel arrives at the destination port the car is simply rolled/driven off. The US army ships all it vehicles using this service.
When you will request a rate for a customer, the rate dept. will at times provide you with a few options of service for you to present to the customer.
